Cold, Flu, and COVID19 Facts

Taught at multiple senior community centers, for more information, scroll down or call us 216-391-7557!

Where have we taught this?

  • St. Martin De Porres Family Center
  • Fatima Family Center
  • St. Andrews Family Center
Andi and her students/volunteers will go around to community centers to teach topics requested by community members. Depending on what is requested, they will create a teaching tool, and hand out aids depending on what is taught. For example, for this teaching they brought small VapoRub tins, tea bags, and honey packets!

Why is it important to learn about Cold and Flu prevention and management?

The cold and flu are the silent killers that come around and harrass the people of Cleveland every year. Prevention is crucial to keeping the community healthy, this means hand washing and vaccines. Vaccines are incredibly important, they help prevent the flu, and if you get it they help protect against complications making it easier to heal from. There is a ton of information on vaccines on the CDC, NIH, WHO, and the Vaccine Education Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia websites. Teaching people in the community about the vaccines and where to get them can help keep the people of Cleveland safe. It is also crucial to know what to do if you do get sick. It is vital that we do not infect others, and we take some time to take care of ourselves and rest!

Is COVID still here?

In 2025, almost 2026 it isn't talked about nearly as much as it used to be talked about, but it is very much still around. It is always important to test yourself if you think you have it, wear a mask, and stay home! All the things that were important are still crucial nowadays if you are to contract COVID. It is also important to get the COVID vaccine! Again, reading about it on websites such as Vaccine Education Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia can help answer any questions you may have about it.
